[U] J.I.C.A. Jesus Is Coming Again
The Bible speaks about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in various verses, particularly in the New Testament. Here are some key passages that describe this event:
- Matthew 24:30-31
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Jesus describes His glorious return, accompanied by angels and a loud trumpet call.
- Acts 1:10-11
“And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.'”
The angels tell the disciples that Jesus will return in the same manner He ascended—physically and visibly.
- Revelation 1:7
“Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.”
A description of the return of Christ, emphasizing its global visibility and the mourning of those who rejected Him.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
Paul writes about the resurrection of believers and their meeting with Christ in the air at His return.
- Matthew 25:31-32
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him
will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.”
Jesus describes His judgment of the nations when He returns, separating the righteous from the wicked.
- Mark 13:26-27
“And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.”
A parallel passage to Matthew 24, describing the gathering of God’s people and Christ’s glorious return.
- Titus 2:13

Jesus encourages believers to be hopeful as His return signals the completion of their redemption.
- 2 Peter 3:10
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.”
Peter describes the unexpected nature of Christ’s return and the ultimate destruction and renewal of the world.
- Revelation 22:12-13
“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
Jesus speaks about His imminent return, promising to reward every person according to their deeds.
- John 14:3
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
Jesus assures His followers that He will return to bring them to be with Him forever.
- Philippians 3:20-21
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”
Paul writes about the transformation of believers’ bodies when Jesus returns, making them like His glorious body.
These verses collectively emphasize the certainty, glory, and the transformative nature of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, where He will return in power, judge the nations, and gather His people to be with Him forever.
